Verizon Wireless call forwarding
Use the number assigned in Phone. See the placeholder guide before entering a code. Availability and charges depend on your service and plan.
Confirm your product
Section titled “Confirm your product”These steps apply only to Verizon Wireless. If this is not your phone product, choose Other or ask your provider.
Dial the codes from the Verizon mobile phone that carries your business number, while it is in Verizon coverage in the US. You can’t set forwarding up while traveling internationally. The destination must be an active ten-digit US number; Verizon does not forward to international numbers.
Activate your receptionist in Xaller.ai before turning on forwarding. Your existing line does not connect automatically.
Procedure reviewed: 2026-10-13. Live carrier test: not performed. A source review is not proof that this procedure works on every plan.
Forward all calls
Section titled “Forward all calls”- Open the phone app on the business phone and dial *72 followed by your ten-digit Xaller.ai number. Code or destination:
*72{us10}. - Press call. The line rings once, then a tone confirms forwarding is on.
- Call your business number from another phone to check it rings your agent.
Turn it off
Section titled “Turn it off”- Dial this code and press call to stop forwarding.
*73
Test this setting
Section titled “Test this setting”Call your business number from a different phone. Your mobile should not ring and your receptionist should answer.
Forward when we don’t pick up
Section titled “Forward when we don’t pick up”- Dial *71 followed by your ten-digit Xaller.ai number to forward calls you don’t answer. Code or destination:
*71{us10}. - Press call and wait for the confirmation tone.
Turn it off
Section titled “Turn it off”- Dial this code and press call to stop forwarding.
*73
Test this setting
Section titled “Test this setting”Call your business number from a different phone and let your mobile ring without answering. Your receptionist should answer when the ringing stops. Test a call while you are already on another call separately; Verizon’s page does not describe busy handling.
Forward after hours
Section titled “Forward after hours”Verizon mobile lines can’t forward on a schedule.
Use Forward when we don’t pick up if it fits your needs.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- The confirmation can sound like a busy signal. That is expected; call your business number to check.
- Codes rejected while abroad? Verizon only accepts them in its US coverage. Set forwarding up before you travel.
- Still stuck? Verizon customer service is at 800-922-0204.
Confirm your setup
Section titled “Confirm your setup”Call from another phone. Check that your receptionist answers, the call appears in Calls, and your expected notification arrives. Test busy and no-answer behavior separately. If anything fails, turn forwarding off and troubleshoot the route.
Test in Xaller.ai
Section titled “Test in Xaller.ai”Return to Phone, start a five-minute check and call your existing business number from a separate phone. Do not dial the assigned destination for this check. Let the selected condition happen, listen for your receptionist, say a few words and hang up. Confirm the matching call only if it was your test and it worked. An arrival alone is not success. No-answer and busy each need their own test; after-hours needs the phone-service schedule and time zone.
Tested with you records this one test, not continuous carrier verification. If it fails, check the product, destination, permissions and condition, or restore previous handling using the undo steps above.
If your plan has limited minutes, Verizon bills forwarded calls like calls you answer, and some older plans charge a monthly feature fee. *73 turns off either kind of forwarding. Texts are not forwarded. Test what callers hear if your Xaller.ai number cannot be reached.
Pausing Xaller.ai does not turn off carrier forwarding. To restore previous handling, change the settings at your phone provider.
Return to Phone — your saved setup is retained when you sign in. No phone number is included in this link.
